Here at BEST WESTERN PLUS Old Tollgate Hotel we are continually trying to improve
the standards of service and facilities we offer to our guests. To help us achieve
this we always welcome feedback from our customers which we appreciate may be good
or bad. This allows us to identify where we are getting things right and where we
need to improve with additional investment and training. In addition to the valuable
feedback we also allow the nationally recognised accommodation rating organisations
to assess us regularly to ensure that we continue to meet the required standards
of a quality 3 Star Hotel. These include The AA and Enjoy England who share identical
quality standards as the UK tourist authorities such as Visit Britain, Visit Scotland
and Visit Wales. AA Merit score AA inspectors supplement their reports with an additional
quality assessment of all facilities, services and hospitality offered by the hotel.
This wider ranging assessment results in an overall merit score, shown as a percentage
next to the star rating. To gain AA recognition, a hotel must achieve a minimum quality
score of 50%.
Visit England The Quality Rose is the mark of England's official, nationwide quality
assessment scheme. Similar to The AA the Visit England team of professional assessors
visit The Old Tollgate every year, carrying out a routine day visit or an overnight
stay. On these occasions they book in, as you would, as a normal guest and test all
the facilities and services. A quality score is awarded for every aspect of the experience
including the comfort of the bed, the quality of the breakfast and dinner, the warmth
of welcome and most importantly the cleanliness.
Breakfast Award The Old Tollgate recognises how the breakfast experience forms a massive
part of the overall experience for our overnight guests. To ensure we deliver the
best possible breakfast experience we have chosen to be assessed by Visit England
and are proud to have been awarded their Breakfast Award.
